Hurstwic Events

Cumberland woods

Hurstwic members provide demonstrations and presentations at museums, universities, schools, historical societies, and other cultural institutions.

Our Viking Age arms and armor demonstration was described in a news story by Chris Bergeron that appeared in the MetroWest Daily News on May 28, 2006. The story can be downloaded here (1MB pdf). A promotional video for our demonstration at Higgins Armory Museum is here on YouTube.

We also offer Viking combat training through the Higgins Armory Sword Guild at Higgins Armory Museum, and at other venues.

Currently scheduled public appearances include:

February 18

Viking combat demonstration and presentation at Higgins Armory Museum

March 17

no demonstration scheduled at Higgins Armory Museum

March 31

Viking combat demonstration and presentation at Higgins Armory Museum

part of a full day of Viking-related demonstrations, presentations, games, and crafts

Normally, we present a live demonstration of Viking age combat techniques on the 3rd (and where applicable, 5th) Saturday of each month at 2PM at Higgins Armory Museum, part of the regular Weekend at Higgins program. Occasionally, scheduling changes prevent us from offering a demonstration, in which case we offer a presentation on Viking age weapons, instead.

Photos from some Hurstwic events can be seen in the Hurstwic photo album.
